Ask Burton: Q: I was tilling a piece of my vegetable garden and I kept finding white grubs in the bed. I must have come across a dozen in the time I was tilling my garden, which is 4’x20′. What can I do now before they become a problem?February 6, 2024
Ask Burton: This week, a pair of quick questions about the vegetable garden that we hear often each September. Q: My tomatoes looked nice all the way through the summer, and I had hoped to keep them for the second crop. Spider mites have struck, and they’re terribly stressed. Is there still time to replant a second crop? Also, I plant broccoli and cabbage in my fall garden, but they always end up covered in holes.September 8, 2021
Ask Burton: Q: I had excellent tomatoes this spring, and I want to have the best fall garden possible. Should I keep my existing tomato plants (they still look good), or replant young starts?July 5, 2021
Ask Burton: Q: I planted a vegetable garden last year, but certain crops didn’t produce well. I think it’s because the bees didn’t come since I had great looking squash plants that flowered, but just never made worth mentioning. How can I get the bees to visit around my vegetable garden?January 26, 2021
