Ryan Covington continues the family tradition of helping people realize the infinite possibilities of a residential landscape, and the joy and fulfillment that a beautiful outdoor living space can bring to your life. He is a Landscape Photographer in every sense of the word, as he travels the world (and the Dallas metroplex) photographing lifestyles and landscapes both large and small. From the wilds of Africa to the unexplored possibilities of our own backyards, he finds beauty and inspiration in all that Mother Nature has to offer. Ryan combines his bachelor’s degree in Cinema/Television from SMU and his graduate studies at USC, with a lifelong, homegrown education in horticulture from Covington’s Nursery.

Family Values

Joe and Gayle were high school sweethearts in Greenville, Texas. When he proposed to her in 1972, it was with the understanding that the two of them would launch a small plant nursery, much like Joe’s father before him. Joe’s Dad was a fireman, but on his off days, he ran a small plant nursery from behind their home; so since he was 8 years old, Joe has been growing plants, landscaping and maintaining yards with his father, and working in the nursery business. With a loan from his mother — the amazing Eula Covington — Joe and Gayle were able to purchase a small lot on the corner of Oates and Broadway. Their very first day, they set up lawn chairs, painted a sign on Eula’s old discarded door, and sat on the corner selling azaleas for $2.99! Unfortunately, over the years, the price of azaleas has changed, but what remains the same is Joe and Gayle’s love of plants, and their unwavering commitment to providing the best possible plants at the lowest possible prices.

Service With A Smile

A cheap plant from one of the big-box stores isn’t exactly cheap if you don’t know what to do with it or how to properly care for it, because when the plant dies, you are back to the beginning, wondering what went wrong and now you need to buy a new plant. That’s why at Covington’s we carefully select our employees – people with a true passion for gardening. Back in the 1970’s, Gayle Covington was very successful in the fashion industry, and yes, dressing a beautiful woman is much like landscaping your yard: you highlight the assets, and downplay the negatives! But the biggest thing that Gayle brought back to us from that bygone era is IMPECCABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Our sales team will wait on you hand and foot, and make sure that you are leaving our store happy, satisfied, and completely educated about how to care for your purchases. We want your gardening efforts to succeed, and it shows!

Expansive Selection

Covington’s has the largest selection of annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs in the entire DFW area. We grow and sell only the highest quality products, and we offer very competitive pricing. We pride ourselves in selecting only the best, specimen-quality trees and shrubs from nurseries all over America, and we grow only flowers that are perfectly suited for our North Texas climate and soil. No matter how large or how small your project is, we are here to help you succeed.

Product Guarantee

At Covington’s Nursery and Landscape, we pride ourselves on providing you with only the highest quality trees and shrubs, the most skilled installation crews, and an extremely knowledgeable sales team. We will give you all the information and tools that you need to make sure that your newly planted trees and shrubs will thrive. However, sometimes even with the proper placement, fertilization, care, and watering, plants will not acclimate to their new environment. If that is the case, we encourage you to first contact us to see if we can save that plant, by accessing your situation and recommending curative solutions. But if all else fails, Covington’s will replace that tree, shrub, or groundcover free of charge, within one year of purchase. Once you become a Covington’s customer, we guarantee you will never want to go anywhere else.
