This Buddleia dons large, full white flowers, blooming atop thick, sturdy stems from early summer to frost. Compact habit. Excellent for mixed borders and beds. Deciduous.
A beloved Texas native shrub covered in fragrant, creamy-white, pincushion-like blooms from early summer into fall, with glossy green foliage and round, button-like seed heads that last into winter. Hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees flock to the nectar, and songbirds and waterfowl eat the seeds. It’s at its best in moist to wet soils, making it a natural fit for rain gardens, pond edges, and low spots in North Texas yards, and it tolerates occasional flooding. Plant it in a consistently damp area and give it extra water during dry stretches.
This tree-like cactus is named for its furry, cuddly appearance. It is actually covered with dense, sharp one inch spines that are not at all soft and cuddly. Requires good drainage and a safe distance.
Succulent with thorny stems, colorful flowers. Thrives in bright, indirect light. Water sparingly; allow soil to dry between waterings. Tolerates dry conditions.
Large, rounded cactus with golden yellow spines. Bright yellow flowers appear in summer. Heat and drought tolerant. Perfect for the xeriscape garden or container. Must have well-drained soil and prefers to be kept dry during winter months.
An outstanding species that blooms in mid-spring with a profusion of hummingbird-attracting pink flowers held over a mound of tight clustering stems. Low-growing and slowly spreading to a small clump. Very showy when in bloom. Provide excellent drainage and plenty of sun.
The Calathea Orbifolia’s broad, oval-shaped leaves with contrasting green stripes make it a popular plant for home decor and plant enthusiasts alike. Its lush foliage benefits from frequent waterings and high humidity. In ideal conditions (think tropical), its pet-friendly leaves can grow over a foot wide!
Light: Medium indirect light.
Water: Let top layer dry before watering.
A striking upright, narrow evergreen shrub that fits beautifully into tight side yards, foundation beds, or as a vertical accent. Pink buds open in fall to semi-double white blooms with bright yellow stamens, standing out against glossy dark green foliage when little else is flowering. Its columnar, vase-shaped habit makes it a natural fit for privacy screens, narrow hedgerows, or espalier-style plantings where a wide shrub won’t fit.
Compact grower with glossy green evergreen foliage. Large, dusty-pink, semi-double flowers with slightly lighter centers. Blooms from late fall into winter.
Large, semi-double flowers are rosy-pink with wavy edged petals and bloom in late fall. A vigorous shrub with an upright growth habit. Excellent as a specimen.
A fall-blooming evergreen shrub valued for its large, richly red flowers that put on a show for about six weeks each autumn when most of the garden has gone quiet. Its dark, glossy foliage stays attractive year-round, making it a strong choice for foundation plantings, informal hedges, or as a specimen near a patio or entry. Like other sasanqua camellias, it favors acidic, well-drained soil and benefits from afternoon shade in hotter climates to protect its blooms and foliage.
Large, perfectly formed, semi-double, white flowers with ruffled edges and a bright center of golden stamens. The dense, semi-weeping habit and glossy, dark green foliage create an exceptional evergreen foundation planting or espalier. A mid-season bloomer.
Arching, spreading evergreen shrub has lush, dark green foliage. Medium red flowers are borne late fall to spring. Blooms are semi-double to double form.
Popular upright evergreen shrub. Brilliant single petal red flowers with showy yellow stamens late fall into winter.
