People always want to know why I go through the trouble of sowing winter rye grass every single year. They think I suffer through the (very minimal) winter mowing just so that my yard can look beautiful when everyone’s else is dead/dormant. And maybe that’s part of it!

Really though, you will see I’m solving a much more tangible and realistic problem: winter rye grass keeps me from having a yard full of winter mud!
