The Argentine saguaro is a fast-growing substitute to the iconic saguaro of Arizona. When mature, profuse, white flowers gather along the stems on warm summer nights, and are present for most of the following day. Beautiful golden spines appear to glow, especially with the sun setting behind them. This prickly giant will eventually grow up to twenty-five feet with multiple arms. Argentine saguaro is more tolerant of water than many other cactus species, but it also tolerates drought and poor soils. With good fertilizer and rich soil, however, growth will be even faster.
