Argentine Giant Cactus

This cactus, native to Argentina, has an unusual growth habit for a cactus. It does not get any taller than about three feet at maturity, and has sprawling limbs that grow just as wide. 6-8″ diameter blooms are white with yellow centers. They appear at night, sometimes lasting into the early morning or even longer on cool, cloudy days. Flowers are followed by a purple fruit, with a red pulp. Blossoms are wonderfully fragrant and attract night pollinators such as bats and moths.
