Plant of The Week – Teddy Bear Magnolia

Magnolias are an iconic evergreen tree in the South, and Teddy Bears are one of the smallest Southern Magnolia varieties. Their large, glossy, dark green leaves have fuzzy brown undersides that remind you of teddy bear fur. The exquisite 6–8-inch white flowers are beautiful and aromatic and bloom from late spring through summer to early fall.
This dense cone-shaped magnolia grows to 15-20’ tall and 10-12’ wide, the perfect size for smaller residential yards. It’s impressive as a single specimen or planted in a row to create a natural evergreen privacy screen or windbreak. Teddy Bear Magnolias love full sun and are heat and drought-tolerant once established.
Embrace the beauty and practicality of these compact magnolias in your landscape.
