This week is National Pollinator Week, a time to be mindful of the bees, butterflies, beetles, bats, moths, hummingbirds, and others that pollinate our plants. It’s said that these creatures are responsible for pollinating 1 in every 3 bites of food we eat! That’s huge and goes to show how important these pollinators are to us.
Because of the declining pollinator populations, seventeen years ago the U.S. Senate unanimously approved that a week in June be designated as National Pollinator Week. It’s an opportunity to increase awareness and take action to ensure pollinators thrive and have a safe and healthy place to do their best. We can all do our part to help these creatures by planting an assortment of their favorite flowers and plants in our gardens so they can continue to keep pollinating!
