Sammy’s Plant of The Week: Sunsation Barberry

Sammy loves the new variety of Barberry called Sunsation, because it’s the only thing brighter than his rain gear!

Sunsation is a golden-leafed variety of barberry with a compact growth habit, and it makes a great low hedge. It will grow to be about 3 to 4 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 3 to 4 feet. This shrub does best in full sun to partial shade, and is very adaptable to both dry and moist growing conditions— but it will not tolerate any standing water. When planting, be sure to back-fill the hole with half Covington’s Soil Builder and half native soil for the best success!
