Plant of the Week – Summer Garden Phlox

Nothing beats the appeal of summer garden phlox when you want tall, eye-catching perennials for sunny areas in your garden. Their large clusters of pink, purple, and white flowers bloom for a long period during our warm season, and make excellent cut flowers.

We currently have a new hybrid collection of phlox called Fashionably Early which comes in three pretty pastel colors.  They start blooming 2-3 weeks earlier than the average tall garden phlox, and boast a long season of color.  We also have Opening Act phlox, which is another variety of early bloomers, plus Robert Poore, Victoria, and the Texas Superstar John Fanick phlox, which have showy pink flowers with a darker pink eye and are touted for their heat and drought tolerance.

Butterflies and hummingbirds love these summer garden phlox and we do too!
