Plant of the Week – Pistachio Hydrangea

Pistachio is a mophead hydrangea with blossoms that are a kaleidoscope of gorgeous rosy pink and pistachio lime green with a hint of purplish blue. It is absolutely one of the most beautiful and unique colorations you’ll ever see….and it reblooms spring through fall!

This compact grower, which reaches 2 to 3 feet tall, 3 to 5 feet wide, makes a stunning accent in the landscape or can be used in a container to dress up your porch or patio. Plant in rich soil and filtered or morning sunshine with afternoon shade. Blooms on old wood, so prune after flowering to maintain shape and promote reblooming.

NOTE: If you don’t mind cutting the blooms out of your garden, hydrangeas are wonderful fresh cut flowers and can also be easily dried to use in wreaths and arrangements.
