Plant of the Week – Lil’ Kim Althea

Lil’ Kim is an exceptional flowering shrub that provides brilliant color throughout the summer, plus the flowers attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators.
Althea (Rose of Sharon) reaches only 3-4 ft. tall and wide (which is about half the size of most Rose of Sharon), so it takes up much less space in your landscape. It displays dark green leaves, and each stem is bountiful with flower buds that open to a showy display of white flowers, with bright red emerging from the center. The flowers last for three days, which is longer than the usual one day of other varieties.
As with other Altheas, Lil’Kim thrives in full sun, is easy to grow, and tolerates a wide range of soil and moisture conditions.
We have Lil’ Kim in stock now, so come in for yours soon because they usually don’t stay around long they are loved by many!
