Greg’s Plant Pick of the Week – Emerald Spreader Japanese Yew

If you want an easy-care, low profile plant that will make a huge impact in your landscape, Greg recommends Emerald Spreader. This spreading evergreen shrub grows to only 2½ ft. tall, but an amazing 8-10 ft. wide. One of these plants alone can green up a big chunk of real estate. The Covington’s themselves have these low growing yews along the shadier side of their own home.

Emerald Spreader, with its dark green foliage, is cold hardy and tolerant of shade, heat and drought.  It is excellent for filling space under tree canopies. It can be used as a single specimen or planted in groups as a large scale groundcover, border, or low hedge in shade to part shade conditions.
