Chuy’s Plant Pick of the Week – Vegetable & Fruit Starts

Sustainability is a word you hear a lot these days, and TONS of people are growing their own food. That’s why these veggie and fruit starts are Chuy’s Plant Pick of the Week. During World War I & II, Victory Gardens were hugely popular. Their motto was “A Vegetable Garden for Every Home.” You would find them everywhere: from front and backyards to public parks and fields. They helped ease the burden on the food supply chain, and supplement rations, but just as importantly, they boosted morale. Gardening gives you plenty of Vitamin D and exercise, plus the satisfaction of knowing you grew those veggies, fruits, herbs, berries, etc on the dinner table. Getting those hands dirty is a great mental break, and is said to produce more seratonin and dopamine. We’ve got a huge selection of premium veggie and fruit starts, with things like squash, peppers, beans, okra, eggplant, cantaloupe, melons, strawberries, and of course loads of varieties of tomatoes! We’ve got herbs too yall: basil, parsely, sage, mint, thyme, oregano, cilantro and many more. You can browse our fruit tree and berry bush selection online here, and can call us at 972-475-5888 Ext 2 to talk about varieties. Don’t forget you can email orders to buyplants@covingtonnursery.com. And yes we are still open to the public from 10 am to 4 pm every day except Thursday in which we are closed. We’ve added many safety measures and ask everyone to respect social distancing norms. Get some soil under those fingernails and grow something wonderful!
