Plant of the Week – Poinsettias

Poinsettias are a staple of Christmas decorations. While the solid red variety is the traditional favorite, you can now choose from various vibrant colors and mixes.

To keep your poinsettia looking great, place it near a sunny, south-facing window or in bright filtered light. As tropical plants, they appreciate as much indirect sunlight as possible. Avoid spots with drafts or excessive heat, and maintain a temperature between 65 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

When you first bring your poinsettia home, it’s normal for a few leaves to turn yellow and drop off as the plant adjusts to its new environment. However, don’t worry, as this is a natural reaction.

Poinsettias need moderately moist soil, so water them thoroughly when the soil surface feels dry to the touch. You don’t need to fertilize poinsettias when they are in bloom.

We have just received a shipment of beautiful poinsettias, so come on in and choose your favorite while the selection is best!
