Ask Burton!

This week, a simple reminder, because once the weeds sprout, it’s too late!

The first two to three weeks of September are the ideal time window to apply pre-emergent herbicide to prevent weed problems throughout the fall and winter! Use Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper (Dimension) at the heaviest listed rate on the bag to prevent rescuegrass and bluegrass, and ferti-lome Gallery to prevent common broad-leafed weeds that will be sprouting in late September and early October.

Pre-emergent herbicides need to be down before weeds sprout in order to work. So, this isn’t an issue yet; it’s heading weed issues off before they become a much larger problem later.

Don’t miss the window – make your fall applications of pre-emergent herbicide soon.
