Maria’s Plant Pick of the Week – Ann & Jane Magnolias

Ann and Jane are part of the “Little Girl” family of hybrid magnolias many times referred to as saucer magnolias or tulip trees. Jane and Ann both produce stunning tulip-shaped blooms that range from white in the middle to dark purplish pink on the outside. The flowers appear in early spring before the glossy green foliage buds out. Maria loves them for their early flower show, and thinks it’s so exciting to watch those electric fuchsia blooms make their debut while there’s still a chill in the air!

Both of these sun-loving deciduous magnolias grow up to 12 feet tall and wide and are spectacular smaller trees to use as a focal piece in your front yard or near an outdoor living space where you can enjoy the blossoms. You’ll look forward to watching these beauties come alive each spring!
