Mary is excited to share his favorite tree of the week, the captivating Rising Sun Redbud.
What sets this tree apart are its heart-shaped leaves that start out apricot-colored and gradually transition into shades of orange, yellow, and gold. But that’s not all – this Redbud also puts on a show with its deep reddish-purple buds that bloom into fluffy pink flowers, lining the trunk and branches in early Spring.
The Rising Sun prefers full sun, but it can handle some shade and adapt to most soils as long as they are well-drained. This beautiful tree grows to a height of 8-12 feet and spreads 8 feet wide, making it ideal for smaller landscapes or as an accent tree in a larger setting.
