Kaye’s Plant Pick of the Week – Meyer’s Lemon Tree

The blossoms on the Meyer’s Lemon tree are incredibly fragrant and beautiful, and the foliage is a dense dark green. Kaye, our newest Tree and Shrub Specialist, said, “I just love the size and taste of Meyer’s lemons. They are smaller than regular lemons sold in the grocery stores, and they have a sweeter, less acidic taste. They’re perfect for any type of drinks and recipes, and they are easier to grate because their skins are thinner. It’s kind of like the difference between regular yellow onions & the sweeter Vidalia onions.”

In our area, you’ll want to grow these trees in a large pot with a drain hole so they can be moved indoors before the weather gets cold. When planted in the ground, they can reach up to 8-10 feet tall, but when grown in containers your plant will be smaller and grow accordingly with the size of the pot. Place your Meyer’s Lemon tree in a place where it will receive bright light and protection from the wind.

We’ve got Meyer’s Lemon trees in stock now in 5 and 10 gallon containers and they are blooming like crazy!
