Covington’s Nursery & Landscape has been designing gorgeous, quality landscapes for almost 50 years. We are looking for an experienced Landscape Designer to add to our team, and uphold the high standards we are renown for. A Landscape Design degree (or similar), is preferred but not required. Verifiable experience will go a long way whether you have a degree or not.
You must work well with our clients and make them your priority. We have repeat customers who have been working with us for years, and gain new ones every day. We treat them all with respect, friendliness, and professionalism, and listen to their needs and desires for their landscape project.
Sales experience is also preferred, as you will be talking with clients about all products that are available to them for their landscape. In addition, a good working knowledge of plants that grow well in our area is extremely important. You must know what will thrive, as well as be able to relay those facts and care requirements to the client.
The ability to problem-solve, think on your feet, and adapt to changing situations is critical, as there will be hurdles with any landscape project. Our ideal candidate will meet these challenges and find creative ways to solve them!
Creativity, artistry, and attention to detail are very important to us. Our clients expect the best, from our smallest projects to the biggest ones. Our designers think outside the box! They’re inventive and always creating new and exciting designs, whether it’s a simple color change-out or a complete re-design.
You will be in an out of the office and visiting sites daily, so self-motivation is important. Punctuality and excellent communication skills are key, as you will be in contact with Covington’s Landscape and Wholesale staff, your clients, sub-contractors and installation crews. Our crews have been with us for years, and are some of the best in the business. You will need to respectfully work side-by-side with them to achieve your client’s vision.
Basic document and spreadsheet knowledge is required. CAD and point-of-sale system experience is preferred but not mandatory. You must be willing to learn our systems, and we will gladly train you.
