Plant of the Week – Double Feature Crape Myrtle

Double Feature is a crape myrtle with new growth of small wine-red leaves followed by an abundance of ruby-red blooms.  This variety was introduced in 2013, and is unique because it produces no seed capsules and continuously reblooms on the same panicle, without requiring new growth of a new shoot.

Its dense, semi-dwarf growth habit is very low-maintenance requiring very little, if any, pruning.  It is also highly resistant to powdery mildew.  The mature size is only 5 to 6 feet tall and wide.  Plant Double Feature in a very sunny location with good airflow around it, then enjoy its beautiful blooms from late June to October.

We have Double Feature, as well as many other gorgeous crape myrtles, in stock and this is the best time to choose yours while they are blooming so you get the color you want!  Go to our Inventory List to see the hundreds of crape myrtles we have available today.
