Manny’s Plant(s) of the Week – Romeo & Juliet Cleyeras

Manny’s pick for Plant(s) of the week are two star-crossed shrubs, both alike in dignity and variegation: the Romeo and Juliet Cleyeras. Introduced last year, these upright shrubs boast beautiful variegation that will brighten up your landscape all year long. The maroon new growth pops against the golden yellow of the Romeo and the creamy white of the Juliet, and both shrubs will turn beautiful shades of rose and burgundy in the winter.

These evergreens will reach 8 to 10 feet tall and 5 to 6 feet wide, and provide great privacy, but can also be pruned to stay low. Both are disease-resistant and low maintenance, but, as parting is such sweet sorrow, Juliet can take morning sun and afternoon shade, whereas Romeo needs full shade.
