Mexican Plum
Prunus mexicana
A Texas native, it is mainly used as an understory tree. It is loaded with white flowers in spring and it has purplish-red fruit in late summer. The dark green, leathery leaves turn yellow in fall. Typically a very durable tree but it does benefit from some afternoon shade.
