Iuma’s Plant Pick of the Week – Coral Bark Japanese Maple

Posted on November, 04

Both Iuma and these leaves are positively glowing on her Plant Pick of the Week, the Coral Bark Japanese Maple. A favorite of all of us here at the nursery, this stunning, upright variety sprouts gorgeous, vibrant lime-green leaves that turn to shades of orange, yellow and gold in the fall. The reddish-coral bark really shines once the temperature drops, offering a bright pop of color against your winter backdrop. The Coral Bark makes a beautiful specimen for your landscape, and will only get 15′ to 20′ tall. It’s perfect as an understory tree, because as with all Japanese Maples here in NTX, they need morning sun & afternoon shade. Give it some slightly acidic, well-drained soil and your Coral Bark will be the envy of the neighborhood.  See these stunners in person (seriously they are GORGEOUS right now), or shop in our Online Marketplace here.

(Psssst! No color editing was done on these pictures. That’s how spectacular they are naturally)
