For most people, Spring immediately comes to mind when thinking about the best time to start planting trees, shrubs, and perennials. While you can, of course, technically plant during any time of year, Fall is the absolute BEST time to put new plants in the ground in North Texas. Even when the top of your plant goes dormant, the roots are still growing and establishing themselves underground, and starting this process well before the severe heat will help them survive summer. Also, cooler temperatures mean plants are less vulnerable to transplant shock, plus winter precipitation and much cooler temperatures mean you’ll be watering a lot less, and all of this together = saving you time and money!
Fall is knocking at our doorsteps, so get ready to PLANT!
