Bigtooth Maple

Acer grandidentatum
The only Texas native maple tree, this rare relic of the last ice age is found in the Lost Maples State Natural Area, where the seedlings are collected and cultivated. Bigtooth Maples thrive in limestone and alkaline soils and is relatively drought tolerant. It has lovely red and/or yellow fall color. A beautiful, upright to spreading, underutilized tree. Deciduous.
