Aurora’s Plant Pick of the Week – Ruby Slippers Oakleaf Hydrangea

Ruby Slippers is a dwarf hydrangea that is showing off her brilliant fall color right now. In spring, she’ll put on fresh green oakleaf–shaped foliage, and then a profusion of gorgeous large, white blooms will follow in summer. The blooms quickly age to deep pink making quite a floral display!

This much desired compact Oakleaf hydrangea fits well in to smaller landscapes because she only reaches about 3 ½ feet tall and 4-5 feet wide. Ruby Slippers may also be used for mass planting, hedges or borders in areas that receive some morning sun, but are shaded from the hot afternoon sun. Plant in organically rich well drained soil for best success, and Ruby Slippers will shower you with beautiful long lasting blooms!
